Contrary to conventional wisdom, we do not need more jobs, we need better jobs. We hear the economy is booming because there are a lot of jobs–but that’s because people have two or three of them. In America, anyone who works 40 hours a week should be able to live a dignified life. That’s why I’m a proponent of a $15 dollar minimum wage–the absolute minimum wage that accounts for the stagnation in wages that has plagued American workers for the last 40 years. Wages need to increase with the price of inflation, and it’s the federal government’s job to ensure that.
