Meet David

Born and raised in New York by LGBT parents passionately active in the struggle for civil rights and peace, political involvement and community service came naturally to David Holden. Attending public schools in NYC and Westchester County, he went on to major in political science at Temple University. David’s professional life has balanced his interest in public service with an entrepreneurial business career that included ownership of a strategic communications and graphic design agency. Most recently, David was a partner in Holden Wealth Management Group, headquartered here in Naples, along with his wife Streeter Holden. David is now retired and spends his time between his duties as founding Chair of the Collier County Democratic Environmental Caucus of Florida Chapter, his involvement in Greater Naples Leadership, and his service as a member of the Florida council of Hazelden Betty Ford. Of course, he’s concentrating his greatest amount of time as a candidate for congress in SWFL’s 19th district.

As former Chair of the White Plains, New York Democratic Party David has direct experience in managing successful campaigns, building a strong party infrastructure, and turning a historically Red community Blue. He has served as President of the United Way of Greater White Plains, and on numerous other Boards including the Duffy Health Center of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

From 2008-2009 David attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where he earned a Masters in Public Administration. It was a profoundly life-altering experience for him, opening him up to a deeper understanding of the world, while also providing unparalleled training in leadership and organizational development. And, just like many of you, David is still paying off student loans that he took on in order to receive the best education one can receive. David took that training to California, where he served as Deputy Director of the California Association of Social Rehabilitation Agencies. CASRA is a pioneering non-profit in the field of mental health policy and best practices.

After a decade of spending time in Naples, Streeter and David (along with their dog Charlotte) made their home here in SWFL in 2015, primarily to be closer to Streeter’s parents. The Holdens love SWFL, and feel called to contribute to this beloved community.
